Navy recovers 02 unauthorized fishing nets at Eravur lagoon

The Navy during a search operation recovered 02 unauthorized fishing nets cast in the lagoon area of Eravur on 20^th January 2020.

The Navy has been conducting operations to prevent illegal fishing practices of a handful of people with a scant regard towards the marine ecosystem and its resources. During a search conducted in the lagoon area of Eravur, the Navy seized these 02 unauthorized fishing nets cast by people.

The seized fishing nets were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries of Batticaloa for onward action.
