Two detonators and two gelignite sticks recovered by naval operation

Two detonators and two gelignite sticks were recovered by a raid conducted by SL Navy in coordination with Anti Corruption Unit-Mannar, at South Bar area in Mannar today (20^th January 2020).

Since, the using explosive for fishing severely damage the marine eco system, SL Navy carries out operations in order to avert such illegal attempts. Accordingly, during a raid carried out by Navy with Anti Corruption Unit of Mannar, two non electric detonators and two gelignite sticks which were abandoned in the beach at South Bar area, were recovered.

It is believed that these explosive items have been abandoned as a result of frequent Naval patrols. The recovered items were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward action.
