Two (02) persons held for illegally transporting cattle

The Navy apprehended 02 persons for illegally transporting cattle, during a coordinated raid conducted with the Police in Thoppur, Trincomalee on 14^th January 2020.

The Sri Lanka Navy often renders assistance to curb illegal activities within the island and beyond its shore. During a coordinated raid conducted with the Muthur Police, the Navy managed to nab these 02 persons for illegally transporting 03 cattle by 02 two-wheeled hand-tractors. During further search, an axe and 02 knives have also been found in the tractors. Accordingly, the suspects were taken into custody. The accused have been identified as residents of Thoppur area, aged 25 and 40.

The cattle are believed to have been transported with the intention of slaughtering. The Muththur Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
