Three-wheeler with heroin held by Navy

The Navy and Police have recovered about 03g of heroin in Kalladi, Puttalam today (08^th January 2020).

The Navy, apart from its operations conducted to prevent drugs being smuggled via sea, has been conducting regular operations to apprehend drug traffickers in the country and produce them for legal action. During an anti-drug operation carried out in coordination with the Puttalam Police, the Navy detected a suspicious three-wheeler and found about 03g of heroin concealed in the three-wheeler.

It is believed that the suspects who came by the three-wheeler which was used to transport heroin, might have escape the scene when noticed the security personnel. The ownerless vehicle and heroin were handed over to the Puttalam Police for onward legal action.
