Navy joins hands with national dengue prevention programme
Sri Lanka Navy joined hands with island-wide dengue prevention programmes declared from 07th to 09th January 2020 by the National Dengue Eradication Unit.
Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, dengue prevention programmes were conducted in each Naval Command to coincide with the island-wide events organized by the Ministries of Defence and Health. As part of this campaign, programmes were conducted at Magalla, Pettigalawatta and Dangedara areas by the Southern Naval Command, Trincomalee, Anbuwalipuram and Orr’s Hill by the Eastern Naval Command and all bases belonging to the Northern Naval Command.
Apart from cleaning the environment and educating the public over better environmental management for the control of this vector-borne disease, dengue prevention programmes were conducted at naval premises as well. Meanwhile, naval personnel are also engaged in dengue prevention programmes being conducted island-wide.
