Navy holds a group of persons engaged in illegal fishing with banned nets

A group of persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets, were apprehended by Navy during a patrol carried out in the seas off Mollikulam, today (8^th Janauary 2020).

Navy conducts constant patrols to curb illegal fishing activities and accordingly, 15 suspects who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets were apprehended by the Navy, during a patrol conducted at the seas off Mollikulam. Navy also seized 03 dinghies and 03 banned nets. The suspects are residents Arippu area in the ages between 22 to 45.

Apprehended persons along with the dinghies, nets and other fishing gears were handed over to the Fisheries Inspector- Mannar for further investigation.
