Navy holds a haul of illegally kept sea cucumber

SL Navy in coordination with Police STF apprehended a person with a haul of sea cucumber during a raid carried out at Mirinchimunai area in Jaffna, on 7^th January 2020.

Sri Lanka Navy frequently conducts patrols to prevent illegal activities and accordingly during such a raid carried out by Navy in coordination with Police STF at Mirinchimunai area in Jaffna, a haul of sea cucumber illegally hidden in a house, was recovered. Twenty one (21kg) kilograms of sea cucumber was found there and the owner of the house along with sea cucumber was apprehended. The suspect is a resident of the same area aged 41

The seized stock of sea cucumber and the suspect were handed over to the Office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Jaffna for onward investigation.
