Navy apprehends a person with 477 conch shells

The Navy apprehended a person with 477 conch shells during a search conducted with the office of the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Mannar, at Karisalpadu area in Thalaimannar on 7^th January 2020.

During an another raid conducted by Navy to curb the illegal fishing activities these 477 conch shells which were hidden in a shop in Karisalpadu area, were recovered. Accordingly, the shop owner with conch shells were apprehended. The suspect is 52 years old resident of Pesale area in Manner.

Further investigation on the seized conch shells are conducted by the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Manner.
