Navy apprehends person for illegal transportation of slaughtered cattle

A person who was illegally transporting slaughtered cattle, was apprehended by the Navy during a search conducted at Nawaladi area in Vakarai on 3^rd January 2020.

As a part of raids conducted to prevent illegal activities all over the island, this search was carried out at the road block manned by the Navy, at Nawaladi, Vakarai and there a suspicious cab was searched by the sailors. The cab had been used for illegal transportation of 80kg of slaughtered cattle and the person with the cab was taken into Naval custody.

This stock of slaughtered cattle were being transported illegally from Punani to Valachchenai. The suspect is a resident of Punani area aged 41. The cab, suspect and stock of slaughtered cattle were handed over to Valachchenai Police for onward action.
