Navy assists to raid two illegal cannabis chenas

Two cannabis chenas situated at two locations were discovered during a special combined operation conducted by Navy in coordination with Wildlife Conservation Department at Galkaduwa area in Sithulpauwa on 30 December 2019.

Expanding the operations conducted by the Navy to eliminate the drug menace from the island, Navy carried out this operation in coordination with the Wildlife conservation Department and discovered two cannabis chenas.At first about half an acare chena was discovered and 10kg of dried cannabis set for sale, 2kg of cannabis seed and a locally made shot gun were also recovered.

During extended search another cannabis chena which was also about half an acare large, was found in close proximity to the previous one. The 10kg of cannabis and 2kg of cannabis seed were destroyed in fire. Investigation on the shot gun is conducted by the Department of Wildlife conservation.
