Navy apprehends two persons for illegal transportation of goats

Two persons who were illegally transporting goats, were apprehended by the Navy today(28^th December) during a search conducted at Upparu area in Trincomale.

As a part of raids conducted to prevent illegal activities all over the island, this search was carried out at the road block manned by the Navy, near the Gingei bridge at Upparu, Trincomalee and there a suspicious cab was searched by the sailors. The cab had been used for illegal transportation of 44 goats and the two persons with the cab were taken into Naval custody.

These goats were being transported illegally from Thopur to Mihintale. The suspects are residents of Mihintale area aged 23 and 27. The cab, suspects and goats were handed over to Kinniya Police for onward action.
