Religious programmes held in view of Navy’s 69th anniversary draw to a close in Kelaniya

A Buddhist religious programme organized to mark the culmination of the series of religious events, in view of the 69th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy that fell on 09th December, was held at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya on 27th December 2019.

Accordingly, a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ Pinkama followed by a ‘Dharma Deshana’ was conducted with the participation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva. At the outset, Commander of the Navy and accompanying senior naval officers called on the Chief Prelate of the temple, Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhita Thera and received the blessings. Subsequently, the ‘Dharma Deshana’ programme was held and blessings were invoked on the Commander of the Navy, all naval personnel and the motherland for the dawning year of 2020. Further, merits were transferred on the naval War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland during years of hostilities.

Chief of Staff of the Navy, Director Generals of the Navy, senior officers and a large number of sailors were also present on this occasion.
