Navy organizes Christmas Carol Service leading up to Christmas
On the sidelines of Christmas, the annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, the Sri Lanka Navy organized a Christmas Carol Service at the St. Anthony’s Church on 24th December 2019 midnight.
This Christmas Carol Service organized to signify Christmas celebrations was held at the St. Anthony’s Church of SLNS Uththara, with the participation of naval personnel. Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera was also present on this occasion. The event was made more flamboyant with the singing of carols and performances of children and naval personnel. In recognition of their contribution made for the perfect execution of the programme, the singing choir and all civilian participants at the event were presented special prizes by Rear Admiral Samaraweera.
Father Rev. Dr. Michael Savundranayagam, Administrator of Fathima Shrine, Ilavali, conducted the mass and blessed the Navy flags. Children of the convent and few Tamil Catholic families from the area also participated in the event.
