Navy ensures cleanliness on beach through beach cleaning drives
The Navy launched another beach clean-up programme today (21st December) in the Southern Naval Command.
Accordingly, naval personnel attached to SLNS ‘Dakshina’, ‘Nipuna’ and ‘Ruhuna’ in the Southern Naval Command conducted these cleaning programmes at the beaches of Galle Fort and Paraviwella (Tangalle).
The beaches which had been polluted due to a number of human activities were restored to their previous status due to Navy’s effort which was attended by a large number of officers and sailors.
Going by the visionary concept – Green and Blue Drive, mooted by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, similar programmes are conducted in all Naval Commands.
