Navy-made 700^th RO plant declared open by Commander of the Navy for community use

The 700^th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant made by the Navy was declared open by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Police Training School in Aralaganwila, today (20^th December). The occasion was attended by Venerable Maha Sangha and senior officers of the Navy and the Police.

The new facility established utilizing the Navy’s funds and manpower will fulfill the safe drinking water requirement of the trainees and staff at the Aralaganwila Police Training School, personnel attached to the Police Special Task Force at Aralaganwila and residents of Damba Gaha Ulpatha.

In a bid to provide safe drinking water for deprived community in areas where high prevalence of Kidney Disease is reported, a large number of RO units manufactured utilizing Navy’s manpower and technological know-how has been vested in the ownership of the public in a number of districts across the country to date. This effort is being also sponsored by the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease

Further, in collaboration with the Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Chronic Kidney Disease, the Navy is determined to install more RO plants in areas which have been identified as regions prone to the kidney disease.
