Navy contributes to preserve the fish and marine resources averting use of banned nets

SL Navy recovered a haul of unauthorized fishing nets during a patrol carried out in the sea area around the Batticaloa lagoon, on 16^th December 2019.

Since the using of unauthorized fishing nets cause to decrease the fish and marine resources, SL Navy conducts frequent operations to prevent such illegal activities. Accordingly, a raid was conducted in the sea area around the Batticaloa lagoon and apprehended 25 Nos. of unauthorized fishing nets.

The recovered haul of banned fishing nets were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries-Batticaloa for onward action and the Navy is vigilant to avert such illegal activities.
