Three persons apprehended during Navy-Police anti-drug operation
Three (03) persons have been apprehended during a Navy-Police anti-drug operation conducted on 15th December 2019.
Sri Lanka Navy, which is conducting regular operations to curb drug trafficking, has conducted an operation in coordination with the Mannar Division Vice Squad in the Konthappiddi area in Mannar and searched these 03 suspects. Incidentally, 490mg of heroin has been found in the possession of the suspects whom were subsequently apprehended.
Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects has arrived at the location to buy heroin, while the other 02 are drug dealers in the area. The suspects have been identified as residents of Mannar and Silawathura and they were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward investigation, along with drugs.
Further, the Navy has been able to take a large number of drug traffickers into custody and seize drugs, during operations in the past few days. While continuing its anti-drug operations the Navy is committed to eradicating drugs from the country.
