Naval Special Warfare Maritime Security Course successfully terminated
“Naval Special Warfare Maritime Security Course 2019” which was conducted as a Subject Matter Expert Exchange programme by United States Navy, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla and Special Boat Squadron of Sri Lanka Navy was successfully concluded on 13th December 2019 with a certificate awarding ceremony.
The course commenced on 02nd December 2019 and lasted for 12 days. The Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area Commodore Sanjeewa Dias graced the event as the chief guest and The Commanding Officer of 4th Fast |Attack Flotilla Captain(H) Dammika Wijewardhane, The Commanding Officer of the Special Boat Squadron Commander (SBS) Thushitha Daminda and senior officers of the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla and Special Boat Squadron witnessed the event.
Thirty five (35) Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) personnel including 24 from the Special Boat Squadron and 11 from the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla followed the course and successfully completed the training programme. The course was conducted by eight (08) trainers of the Special Boat Team of US Navy.
The twelve (12) days long exercise training mainly focused on Role in the maritime domain, Maintenance and navigation of craft, maritime security, Mission planning and personal safety. Also, Course participants were privileged to gain the knowledge on both theoretical and practical aspects in subjects concerned such as Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and life saving techniques, Basic maintenance, Repair procedures, preventive and corrective maintenance procedures of Boats and marine engine, Mission planning procedures, Operation risk management, Team building activities related to possible underway with engineering and TCCC.
This exercise was recognized as the 1st Subject Matter Expert Exchange programme done by the Special Boat Team of US Navy.
