Three (03) persons busted for drugs during joint operations by Navy and Police

During joint operations conducted in Kinniya and Puttalam areas on 08^th December 2019, the Navy with the assistance of the Police held 03 persons for possessing drugs.

The Navy, in coordination with the Police, carried out an anti-drug operation in Samachchativu, Kinniya and intercepted a suspicious motorbike on the road. The motorcyclist had 02kg of Kerala Cannabis in his possession, when searched. Accordingly, the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Kinniya, aged 26. The Kinniya Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.

On the same day, the Navy and the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) carried out another joint raid in Puttalam and apprehended 02 persons with 100g of hashish. The suspects have been identified as 21 and 29 – year-old residents of Madampe and Puttalam.

The suspects were apprehended while they were carrying the substance to be peddled. The accused along with drugs were handed over to the Puttalam Police for onward investigation.
