Navy holds two persons for illegal fishing with banned nets

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 02 persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets, in the seas off Palliyawasalpadu area in Kalpitiya, on 7^th December 2019.

Accordingly, these persons were apprehended during a patrol carried out by Navy to nab the illegal fishers who use banned nets in Sri Lankan waters.

Along with the fishers, two banned nets and 02 dinghies were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons are residents of the same area aged 44.

The suspects along with the apprehended items were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries -Puttalam for onward action.
