All-night ‘Pirith’ chanting and alms-giving held to coincide with the 37th anniversary SLNS Parakrama

An all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting and offering of alms were organized by the Commanding Officer of SLNS Parakrama, Capt Mahesh De Silva and ship’s company on the 05th and 06th December to coincide with the 37th anniversary celebrations of the SLNS Parakrama.

Commanding Officer of SLNS Parakrama, Capt Mahesh De Silva respectfully brought the casket housing the relic, in a colourful processio. On completion of the all-night ‘Pirith’ chanting, alms and ‘Pirikara’ were offered to the Maha Sangha the following day (06th December) where an ‘Anusasana’ was delivered and blessings were invoked on fallen and injured war heroes, the Commander of the Navy and all naval personnel in the organization.

This meritorious occasion was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugethanna, Director Generals of the Navy and a large number of officers and sailors attached to the Western Naval Command.
