Navy apprehends a suspect in an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs through sea

During a special raid carried out by Sri Lanka Navy on the 02^nd December, a person was apprehended with 1.6kg of Kerala Cannabis.

Keeping with Sri Lanka Navy’s attempts to eradicate the illegal drug menace from Sri Lanka, a special raid was carried out in Muthuwella, Modara, and a suspicious dinghy boat was inspected. During inspection, the 1.6kg of Kerala Cannabis was discovered and upon further investigation, the suspect and his plans to smuggle the amount of drugs via sea were unearthed.

The suspect, a 46 year old resident of Rathmalana, the amount of Cannabis and the dinghy boat were handed over to Modara Police station for further investigations.
