‘Colombo Supercross-2019’ concludes in Welisara as an astounding success
Colombo Supercross 2019 - the mega motorsport event organized by the Sri Lanka Navy for the third consecutive time in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Racing Drivers and Riders Association (SLARDA) concluded at the motocross and gravel track at Welisara yesterday (01st December).
The chief guest, Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathna graced the occasion which is organized annually to provide welfare support and uplift lives of injured naval war heroes and the families of those who have made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland, throughout the 30 year civil war.
Racing riders and drivers representing the tri Forces as well as renowned riders and drivers of the country took to the tracks at Welisara, where 94 motorbike riders and 67 motorcar drivers participated in 12 motorbike events and 11 motorcar events. These adrenaline fueled races showcased breathtaking performances by participants.
Bringing credit to the Sri Lanka Navy, following contestants secured respective places in Colombo Supercross 2019 held for the third successive time.

Mr Jacqes Gunawardana was adjudged the Motorbike champion of the event while Mr Ashan Silva was adjudged the Motorcar champion. The event was attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, Chief of Staff of Navy Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugethanna, Director Generals of the Navy, personnel from all three forces as well as a large number of spectators attended the event.
Further, the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunarathna was presented a special memento by the Commander of the Navy.
