Western Naval Command secures championship in Inter Command Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament

The Inter Command Basketball Tournament 2019 of the Sri Lanka Navy was held from 25^th November to 01^st December at the basketball court of SLNS Gemunu. The prize awarding ceremony of the tournament was graced by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.

The tournament was attended by 09 men’s teams and 06 women’s teams representing all the naval commands. The Western Naval Command, in men’s final, recorded an impressive win, beating the Afloat Command by 48 to 36 points.

Meanwhile, in the women’s final the Western Naval Command sealed a comprehensive victory over the Training Command by 11 to 04 points. The 3^rd place of the men’s event was secured by the North Central Naval Command and the Northern Naval Command became the 2^nd runner up in the women’s tournament.

Director General Services, Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala and a large group of officers and sailors representing all naval commands were also present on this occasion.
