Joint Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service invokes blessings on 69th anniversary of Navy

Sri Lanka Navy, which boasts of a proud history will be celebrating her 69^th anniversary on 9th December and the Joint Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service in view of the anniversary was held at the St. Lucia’s Cathedral in Colombo on 22^nd November 2019.

During the religious event, blessings were invoked on all naval personnel both serving and retired, who are sick and disabled and naval war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice, by His Lordship Rev. Dr. Valence Mendis, the Bishop of Chillaw.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, President of the Navy Christian Council, Rear Admiral Merril Wickramasinghe, Director Generals of the Navy, former Navy Commanders, retired and serving senior naval officers and a large number of naval personnel attended the service.
