Colombo Supercross 2019 to begin in Welisara on 01st December

The Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) will host the Colombo Supercross 2019 for the 3^rd consecutive time at the Navy Racing Track in Welisara on 01^st December 2019.

A press briefing on the Colombo Supercross 2019 was held at the Admiral Somatilake Dissanayake Auditorium of SLNS Parakrama in Colombo on 21^st November 2019 and it was chaired by Rear Admiral Nilantha Heenatigala, Director General Services.

Director Sports (SLN), Commodore Jagath Pemaratna, Chairman Motor Sports (SLN) Commodore Sunanda Kaluarachchi, Race Coordinator, Mr. Gayan Sandaruwan, President of SLARDAR, Mr. Kamil Huzain, Race Director, Kiyaz Deen and Chief executive Officer Hutchison Telecomunication (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Thirukumar Nadarasa were also present on this occasion.

The motor bike track which will be 1.8km in length and proudly boasts of the longest jump in the Island included in the challenging terrain. The topography of the terrain provides an excellent viewing angles to the fans of motor sports enabling them to catch the sight of champion riders and drivers from a higher ground level. Further, a thrilling motor sport experience is rest-assured for both constants and fans what they can experience nowhere else in the country. The elevated platforms on either side of the track can accommodate over 10,000 spectators with ease.

The event is sponsored by Hutch along with CEAT, Honda, KTM, DIMO, Bank of Ceylon, Abans, Shell Lubricants, Causeway Paints, Eser Marketing International and Prima Kottu Mee. The official media sponsor of the event is Rupawahini and Channel Eye.

A major share of the expected profits generated through this event is to be utilized for the welfare of the families of Naval War Heroes perished in action and differently abled naval personnel.
