Navy holds five persons with a haul of illegally caught sea cucumber

Five(05) persons with a haul of illegally caught sea cucumber were apprehended by Navy during a raid carried out at the Vankalai beach area, on 22^nd November 2019.

Accordingly, these persons who engaged in illegal fishing without valid fishing pass were apprehended during a special raid conducted by North Central Naval Command. The Navy also seized a dinghy, an OBM, 123 sea cucumbers.

The suspects are residents of the same area from 29 to 44 years of age. They along with the sea cucumber, dinghy, OBM and other fishing gear were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries-Mannar for legal action.
