Commodore Prasanna Mahawithana assumes duties as Commandant NMA

Commodore Prasanna Mahawithana assumed duties as the new Commandant of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee today (12^th November 2019). Accordingly, he became the 34^th Commandant in the annals of the prestigious seat of learning of naval personnel.

The new Commandant was warmly welcomed according a Guard of Honour and his predecessor, Commodore Kalana Jinadasa formally handed over the duties of the position to the incoming Commandant. Meanwhile, the former Commandant shared a light moment with the officers of the NMA before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions to signify his departure.

The occasion was also attended by the Training Captain, senior and junior officers of the Naval and Maritime Academy.
