Navy holds two persons with 904.6kg of Beedi leaves

A haul of 904.6kg of Beedi leaves were recovered during a patrol carried out by Navy at the seas North of Thalaimannar light house, on 08^th November 2019.

Accordingly, a suspicious dingy had been observed during a patrol carried out by North Central Naval Command Navy at the seas North of Thalaimannar light house and by searching the dinghy this haul of Beedi leaves which was packed in 21 parcels were recovered. The dinghy, two persons aboard and some other items were taken into Naval custody.

The suspects are residents of Mannar area aged 33. The apprehended suspects, haul of Beedi leaves, the dinghy and other items were handed over to Customs Office-Jaffna for onward investigation.
