Thirteen persons apprehended for illegal fishing with banned nets

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 13 persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets, in the seas off Norway Island Trincomalee, on 7^th November 2019.

Accordingly, these persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets were apprehended during a patrol carried out by Eastern naval Command in the seas off Norway Island Trincomalee. Two banned nets, 02 dinghies, 02 OBMs and other fishing gear were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons are residents of Kinniya area aged between 21 to 47.

The suspects along with the apprehended items were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries -Trincomalee for onward action.
