Navy assists apprehension of person with illegal cigarettes

During a joint raid carried out by the Navy and Police STF in Middeniya on 07^th November 2019, a person with 1200 illegal foreign cigarettes has been apprehended.

The Southern Naval Command in coordination with the Ambalantota Police STF carried out this joint raid in Middeniya and had nabbed the suspect who was transferring 60 packets of illegal foreign cigarette containing 1200 fags. The apprehended person has been identified as a resident of Weeraketiya, aged 40. The Middeniya Police is conducting further investigation into the incident.

As a result of recent operations and raids, the Navy has been able to apprehend a large number of culprits engaged in this kind of illegal acts.
