Navy bids farewell to Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle

After completing 34 years of distinguished career, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle bade adieu to the Sri Lanka Navy today (07th November 2019).

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva along with Director Generals of the Navy extended best wishes to Rear Admiral Attygalle who is celebrating his 55th birthday today.

Subsequently, the senior officer was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. The fellow naval officers, gathered at the portals of the Naval Headquarters, extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer in gratitude to the exceptional service rendered for the Navy. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Attygalle was sent off mounted on a decorated vehicle amidst the cheers wishing him fair winds and following seas by senior and junior sailors.

Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 13th Intake in 1985. He held key appointments such as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, as he bade farewell to unblemished naval career.
