Navy assists to repair the sluice gates of Veheragala reservoir

SL Navy assisted to repair the non-operated sluice gates of Veheragala reservoir in Thanamalvila, on 4^th November 2019.

Department of Irrigation had informed the Navy that one of sluice gates of Veheragala reservoir could not be lifted due to a technical fault.

In response to the Irrigation Department’s information and under the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, a diving team attached to the Southern Naval Command was promptly dispatched to attend the task. The Naval diving team who engaged in a strenuous task managed to remove the clogged parts of the cable and make the sluice gate operational.
