Five persons held for engaging in fishing using unauthorized nets

Navy held five persons who engaged in illegal fishing using banned nets, during a patrol carried out in the seas off Kalladichena in Trincomalee, on 01^st November 2019.

Accordingly, the Eastern Naval Command during a patrol in the sea area off Kalladichena, apprehended 05 persons who engaged in fishing with unauthorized fishing nets. The Navy has also seized a dinghy, an outboard motor and a banned fishing net used for fishing. The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Kinniya area aged between 24 and 30 years.

The suspects, dinghy, banned fishing net and the OBM were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Trincomalee for further investigations.
