Navy rescues two fishermen distressed in the sea
Two fishermen who distressed in the sea were rescued by Sri Lanka Navy on 27th October 2019.
A one day fishing craft which had left the Chilaw fisheries harbour for fishing on last 19th October 2019, had been drifting in the seas owing to technical fault of the OBM. Upon receipt of this information to the Naval Headquarters, a Naval craft on routine patrol was promptly dispatched for the rescue mission.
Accordingly, Navy recovered the distressed craft which was floating in the Northwestern seas and brought them safely to SLNS Vijaya in Kalpitiya. Subsequently, the rescued fishermen with their craft were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Puttalam. SL Navy is always prepared to assists the fisher folk and mariners who distressed in Sri Lankan territorial waters.
