Navy assists apprehension of person peddling Kerala cannabis

The Navy with the assistance of the Excise Department apprehended a person peddling Kerala cannabis, during a raid carried out in Sippikulama, Hambantota today (26^th October 2019).

The Southern Naval Command in coordination with the Excise Department carried out this joint raid in Sippikulama area and intercepted a suspicious motorcyclist on the road. When searched, the raiding party managed to find 736g of Kerala cannabis stashed under his jacket by the suspect. The suspect was subsequently held and he has been identified as a resident of Thanamalwila area, aged 29.

The Excise Department is conducting further investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Navy has been able to nab a number of drug traffickers in recent times and produce them for legal action.
