Person apprehended with a stock of glyphosate

The Navy in coordination with Police Special Task Force (STF) conducted a raid at Thekkawatta area in Vauniya and apprehended a suspect with a stock of glyphosate, on 24^th October 2019.

The North Central Naval Command with the assistance of Settikulam STF carried out a raid at Thekkawatta area in Vauniya and found 458 packets (45.8kg) of fertilizer which contained banned agrochemical glyphosate. The packets of glyphosate had been on sale at a retail shop and the shop owner was also held accordingly.

The accused along with the packets of glyphosate was handed over to the Department of Agriculture, Vauniya for onward action.
