Navy ferries devotees attending Katina Pinkama ceremony of Polgasduwa Hermitage

The Katina Pinkama ceremony of Polgasduwa Hermitage in Rathgama, Galle was held with the attendance of a large number of devotees on 23rd October 2019 and it was assisted by the Southern Naval Command.

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and supervision of Commander Southern Naval Area, naval personnel attached to the Navy's Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) and SL Navy Marines deployed 03 small boats which helped the devotees to cross the Rathgama lagoon on their way to the Polgasduwa Hermitage.

Accordingly, the Navy ferried over 1,700 devotees across the lagoon and this noble gesture received high praise form the Venerable Maha Sangha and devotees who attended this meritorious event.
