Navy and Air Force joint operation held onboard SLNS Sindurala

A joint operation of landing a helicopter onboard a ship was carried out by Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force, in Trincomalee harbour premises, on 20^th October 2019.

Accordingly, a ‘Bell 412’ helicopter belongs to SL Air Force was successfully landed onboard SLNS Sindurala belongs to SL Navy, in the Trincomalee harbour premises. The Commanding Officer of the SLNS Sindurala, Captain (G) Chinthaka Kumarasinghe and the crew provided the required assistance for the successful landing of helicopter onboard the ship keeping its stability in the rough seas.

This historical achievement will be a strong foundation for Navy-Air Force joint operations in future.

Navy Diving Unit and Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Unit (4RU) had also been attached for the operation and Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Meril Wickramasinghe also attended this event.
