Navy apprehends 02 persons engaged in illegal fishing activities

The Navy, during a search carried out in the sea area off Alampil, Mullaitivu on 18^th October 2019, apprehended 02 persons who engaged in illegal fishing activities.

The Eastern Naval Command during a patrol carried out in the sea area off Alampil, apprehended these two persons who engaged in illegal fishing without valid passes and using unauthorised fishing nets. The Navy also seized a fishing boat, an unauthorised fishing net and an outboard motor along with the suspects. The apprehended persons are residents of Pulmoddai, aged 24 and 27.

The apprehended persons along with their belongings and fishing gear were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries of Trincomalee for onward action.
