164.3kg of Kerala Cannabis recovered in a special raid by SL Navy
Navy held two persons with 164.3kg of Kerala Cannabis during a search conducted at Navy road block Ilupakadawei, Mannar in the early morning today (19th October 2019).
Accordingly, a suspicious luxury jeep had attempted to escape contradicting the Navy order to stop it. Following the procedure in such an incident, Navy stopped the vehicle by warning fire and by searching it 164.3kg of KG which was packed in few sacks were recovered. The driver of the jeep is a resident of Kaluwankerni area the other suspect has been identified as a Policeman attached to the Madagama Police station in Monaragala. The suspects, the stock of KG and the Jeep is due to be handed over to Mannar Police for further investigation.
During the past months of this year Sri Lanka Navy has apprehended more than 03 tons of Kerala Cannabis in 105 occasions. Navy is always vigilant on illegal drug trafficking and carries out operations to avert them.
