Navy cleans up debris under Wakwella and Agaliya bridges

The Navy conducted a clean up operation to remove the debris underside of Wakwella Bridge and Agaliya bridge in Galle, on 17^th October 2019.

Due to heavy downpours of rain these days, the two bridges over Gin Ganga had collected remains of trees from the underside, hampering the free flow of water. As a result, the areas around the bridges were at risk of flooding.

Accordingly, the Southern Naval Command sent out teams of Navy Divers and Rapid Response Rescue and Relief unit (4RU) for the operation and they managed to remove debris collected under the bridges, preventing the risk of flooding in respective areas.
