Navy apprehends 04 persons with 715 sea cucumber

Navy held 04 persons with 715 sea cucumber caught by illegal means at the Arrippu-East beach area in the early morning today (17^th October 2019).

Accordingly, these suspects who were catching sea cucumber without a valid permit were apprehended during a patrol carried out by Northwestern Naval Command. Along with the suspects 02 dinghies, 02 outboard motors and some fishing gears were also taken into naval custody.

The apprehended suspects are residents of the same area, aged from 26 to 53. The suspects, stock of sea cucumber, dinghies, outboard motors and other fishing gears were handed over to the office of the Fisheries Inspector-Mannar for onward investigation.
