Navy team joins in 7th sports meet of International Military Sports Council (CISM)
A team consists of 27 sportsmen and sportswomen led by Commodore Jayantha Gamage, left the island on 16th October for Wuhan in China to participate in the 7th annual sports meet organized by the International Military Sports Council(CISM).
Accordingly, this year’s CISM sports meet will kick off till 29th October at Wuhan city in China and a team of 103 Tri Forces personnel will be participating in the event representing Sri Lanka. Commodore Jayantha Gamage acts as the team manager for the Sri Lankan team which consists of 52 players from SL Army, 27 players from SL Navy and 24 players from SL Air Force.
The International Military Sports Council (CISM) was established on 18th February 1948 and Tri Forces personnel of 135 countries have obtained the membership by now. Sri Lanka got its membership in 1996. CISM conducts its sports meets in winter and summer season continental wise in every four years and the sportsmen and sportswomen of Tri Forces in the membership countries take part in these games.
