Navy clears underside of Wakwella bridge and averts possible flood risk
The Navy carried out a clean-up effort to remove debris collected underneath the Wakwella bridge in Galle today (11th October 2019).
Accordingly, the Navy cleared remains of trees collected underside of the bridge which is over Ginganga. With the collection of debris, the low lying area was at risk of flooding. Responding promptly to the situation, the Navy removed debris and help swift downstream of water.
The task was carried out by a diving team attached to the Southern Naval Area. The timely involvement of the Navy averted a possible flood situation in the area.
