Navy apprehends a woman with a stock of turtle flesh

A team of Naval personnel apprehended a person with a stock of turtle flesh during a search conducted at Madagal area in jaffna on 9^th October 2019.

This stock of turtle flesh weighing 38.8kg which was hidden in a house in Madagal area was seized during a search conducted by Northern Naval Command in coordination with Illawalai Police. The suspicious woman is a resident of the same area aged 49. The suspect along with the flesh stock was handed over to Illawalai Police for onward legal action. Further, navy also nabbed 04 persons with 16.1kg of turtle flesh on last 7^th in Manaladi area in Delft.

It is the sole responsibility of all Sri Lankans to protect these rare creature which is included into the Red List recently.
