VBSS Course conducted for foreign security officials commences in Trincomalee
A Visit Board Search & Seizure (VBSS) Course conducted for the stakeholders attached to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Programme commenced today (07th October 2019) at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Training School in Trincomalee.p>
Under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva the programme is conducted at the Training School of SBS and the opening address of the course was held with the participation of Commander Thusitha Daminda, Commanding Officer Special Boat Squadron, Maritime Law Enforcement mentors from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Programme and a group of SBS instructors.
The course has been organized for the 03rd time in the year 2019, in collaboration with the UNODC, and it is scheduled to be held for 02 weeks at the SBS Headquarters.Twenty three (23) foreign students including ten (10) Coast Guard personnel from the Republic of Philippines, nine (9) Coast Guard personnel from the Kingdom of Thailand, two (02) Coast Guard personnel and two (02) Boarder Guard personnel from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam attend the course.
This special training programme will be carried out in such a manner enabling the participants to pick the brain of experienced SLN personnel to hone their knowledge mainly on drug identification, drug transferring methods and planning, preparation and boarding procedures.
