Newly enlisted Direct Entry Officers awarded appointment letters
The awarding ceremony of appointment letters for 36 Direct Entry Officers was held today (3rd October) under the patronage of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake auditorium in SLNS Parakrama.
The new direct entry officers belong to Executive, Engineering, Ship Hull, IT , Supply, Dental, Band and Volunteer Branches of the Sri Lanka Navy.
Addressing the enlisted officers, the Commander of the Navy congratulated them and stressed that they should determine to discharge the duty and responsibilities for the sake of motherland as Naval officers while keeping glory of the Navy and her reputation. Further, he added that the new officers have a great challenge in the future since we need a powerful navy to protect the ocean and marine resources which are very important for us as an island nation.
The supreme sacrifice of the war heroes at operations against the three decade lasted terrorism, brought us the freedom that we enjoy today and the Commander of the Navy urged the new officers to contribute to protect the motherland that they saved under utmost hardships. He also mentioned that it is not an easy task to have a military training and for that mental perseverance is rather required than physical fitness. Finally, he thanked the parents for giving their consent to their sons and daughters to join the Navy.
Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna, Director General Personnel Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage, Director General Training Rear Admiral Nandana Jayarathna, other senior officers, the parents and family members of the enlisted officers were also present on the occasion.
