Navy's contribution in transforming island’s coastline into a beautiful beach free of waste
Two more cleaning programmes of the Navy’s coastal cleanup drive were conducted in the Northern Naval Command on 1st October 2019.
Accordingly, these clean-up programmes were carried out along the beach between Dambakolapatuna and Keeramley and in the Kurikadduwan beach. As a result of the dedication of naval personnel, it was able to restore the beauty of the beaches, which were heavily polluted by natural causes and human activities. A large group of naval personnel took part in these beach cleaning drives.
Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been doing a commendable job to transform the polluted coastal belt around the island into a beautiful one, with a view to attracting both local and foreign tourists.
