Navy's contribution towards making island’s coastline free of waste
A few more cleaning programmes of the Navy’s coastal cleanup drive were conducted in the Northern and Northwestern Naval Commands today (29th September 2019).
Accordingly, these clean-up programmes were carried out in Aliyawalei, Sillalei to Saukkad, Perunkadu, Kankesanthurei, Sand and Mandativu beaches by the Northern Naval Command.
Meanwhile, the Northwestern Naval Command cleaned the Mullikulam to Pukkulam and Alankuda to Norochcholei beach areas.
As a result of the dedication of naval personnel, it was able to restore the beauty of the beaches, which were heavily polluted by natural causes and human activities. A large group of naval personnel took part in these beach cleaning drives.
Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva, the Navy has been doing a commendable job to transform the polluted coastal belt around the island into a beautiful one, with a view to attracting both local and foreign tourists.
